WHAT I DO

What I handle on your behalf

From day-to-day transaction recording through to MTD-compliant VAT submissions, I take care of the numbers so you can focus on your business.

01

Monthly and Quarterly Bookkeeping

I record and reconcile every transaction on a regular cycle, so your accounts never fall behind. Whether you are a sole trader with a handful of invoices or a limited company with multiple income streams, I keep your books accurate and up to date. You get clear, readable figures at any point in the year, not just at year-end.

Monthly or quarterly
02

VAT Returns and MTD Submissions

I prepare and submit your VAT returns directly to HMRC under Making Tax Digital. From April 2026, MTD for Income Tax applies to sole traders and landlords with turnover above 50,000 pounds, and I will have you ready well ahead of that deadline. No last-minute panic, no penalties.

MTD compliant
03

Cloud Accounting Setup and Management

I set up and manage your bookkeeping in QuickBooks, FreeAgent, Xero or Sage, whichever suits your business. As a QuickBooks ProAdvisor and FreeAgent Partner, I know these platforms properly, not just the basics. You get a system that works from the start, with me keeping it running every month.

WHY IT WORKS

Why clients come back every year

Three reasons small businesses in and around Uttoxeter switch to Anchor and stay.

You speak to me, not whoever picks up the phone

I run Anchor Accounts and Books entirely on my own. There are no junior staff, no handoffs and no starting from scratch every time you get in touch. You build a relationship with the person doing your accounts, and that person is always me. For a lot of clients, that alone is reason enough.

Fixed fees mean no surprises on your invoice

I charge a fixed monthly fee agreed upfront. You know exactly what you are paying before we start, and that figure does not change if you ask questions or need extra help. Small business owners have enough unpredictable costs without their bookkeeper adding to them.

Same-day responses when something comes up

Most bookkeepers are slow to reply. I am not. If you send me a message on a working day, you hear back the same day. That matters when a customer is chasing an invoice, HMRC has sent a letter or you just need a quick answer before making a decision.

GETTING STARTED

How it works

Four straightforward steps from your first conversation to having your bookkeeping properly sorted.

01

Book a free call

We have a short, no-pressure conversation about your business, what your current bookkeeping situation looks like and what you actually need. There is no commitment on your side and no jargon from mine. If you have a shoebox of receipts or no system at all, that is fine. I have seen it before.

02

I put together a fixed-fee proposal

Based on what you have told me, I give you a clear written quote for exactly what I will do and what it will cost each month. No hourly rates, no vague estimates. You can say yes, ask questions or walk away. The choice is entirely yours.

03

We set up your bookkeeping system

I get you onto the right cloud accounting platform for your business, whether that is QuickBooks, FreeAgent, Xero or Sage. If you are already using one, I connect in and sort out any backlog. Within a short time you have an organised, accurate set of records and a clear picture of where things stand.

04

Ongoing monthly work and support

Every month I reconcile your accounts, keep everything up to date and handle your VAT submissions when they are due. You can message me at any point and I will reply the same day. Year-end is no longer a scramble because your records are already in order.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Common questions

No. Most clients come to me with records that need sorting out, and that is completely normal. I do not judge the state of what you hand over. I just work through it, get everything accurate and make sure we have a clean system going forward from that point.
No. I work fully remotely with clients across the UK, so location is not a factor. If you are local to Uttoxeter or Staffordshire, that is great, but it does not change how the service works either way. Everything is handled online through cloud accounting software.
From April 2026, sole traders and landlords with turnover above 50,000 pounds must keep digital records and submit quarterly updates to HMRC using MTD-compatible software. I will make sure your bookkeeping is set up correctly for this well before the deadline. If you are already close to that threshold, it is worth getting sorted now rather than later.
It depends on the volume of transactions and whether you need VAT returns included, but I always give you a fixed monthly figure before we start. There are no hourly charges and no bill that changes because you asked a question. Book a free call and I will give you a straight answer based on your actual situation.
