WHAT I DO

What I handle on your behalf

From your annual accounts and Corporation Tax through to monthly bookkeeping and VAT returns, I take care of the numbers so you can focus on running your business.

01

Accounts and Tax Returns

I prepare and file your annual accounts and tax returns personally, whether you are a sole trader or a limited company. Every figure is checked, every allowable expense is captured, and your return is submitted on time. You always know what you owe before the deadline arrives.

02

VAT Returns and Making Tax Digital

I handle your VAT returns and submit them through MTD-compliant software, including QuickBooks, FreeAgent, Xero and Sage. Making Tax Digital for Income Tax is already mandatory for sole traders earning above certain thresholds, with lower thresholds coming in from April 2027 and April 2028. Getting set up correctly now avoids penalties later.

03

Bookkeeping and Cloud Accounting Setup

I keep your records accurate and up to date on a monthly or quarterly basis, using whichever cloud platform suits you. As a QuickBooks ProAdvisor and FreeAgent Partner, I can set up your software, train you on it and maintain it going forward. Clean books make everything else easier, including tax planning.

WHY IT WORKS

Why clients come back every year

The difference is not the software or the price, it is that you always speak directly to the person doing your accounts.

You deal with me, not a rota of staff

Every client at Anchor Accounts and Books is handled personally by me, Luke Jackson FMAAT. There are no junior staff processing your numbers and no account managers in between. When you send a message or pick up the phone, you reach the qualified accountant who actually knows your file.

Fixed fees, no unexpected invoices

You know the cost before we start. I quote a fixed fee based on your specific situation, so there are no hourly rate surprises at year-end. Stoke-on-Trent businesses dealing with tighter margins in a slow-growth economy need certainty on costs, and that is what I provide.

Questions answered the same day

I guarantee a same-day response. If an HMRC letter arrives or you are unsure whether something is tax-deductible, you get a clear answer quickly, not a voicemail and a three-day wait. That kind of access matters when your business needs to move fast.

GETTING STARTED

How it works

Getting started takes one conversation, and I handle everything from there.

01

Book a free call

You book a free, no-obligation call through my contact page. There is no form-filling or commitment required, just a straightforward conversation about where you are and what you need.

02

I assess your situation

On the call, I ask the right questions to understand your business, your current records and any deadlines you are working toward. I will tell you plainly what needs doing and give you a fixed fee quote before we go any further.

03

We get your accounts in order

Once you are happy to proceed, I take over. That means setting up your software if needed, pulling together your records and getting everything filed accurately. If there are gaps or backlogs, I handle those too without judgment.

04

Ongoing support, year-round

After the initial work is done, I stay on as your accountant throughout the year. You can contact me any time a question comes up. I aim to respond the same day, and I will keep you ahead of every deadline.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Common questions

No. I work fully remotely with clients across the UK, so your location does not limit anything. Stoke-on-Trent businesses are welcome and I understand the local business environment, but I use cloud accounting tools that mean geography is never a barrier.
It is not too late. Most clients come to me with some catching up to do, and that is entirely normal. I will tell you on our first call what needs sorting, in what order, and give you a fixed cost for the work. There is no judgment and no lecture.
Making Tax Digital for Income Tax is now mandatory for sole traders and landlords earning above certain income thresholds, with the qualifying income level dropping in stages from April 2026 through to April 2028. If it applies to you, I will get your software set up correctly and handle your quarterly submissions so you are not caught out.
I quote a fixed fee that covers the specific services you need, whether that is a self assessment return, limited company accounts, VAT returns or ongoing bookkeeping. The price is agreed upfront so there are no hourly charges or surprise invoices. If your needs change, we talk about it openly before anything changes.
