Are your books actually up to date?

Answer five quick questions and get a clear picture of where your bookkeeping stands right now.

WHAT I DO

What I handle on your behalf

From day-to-day transaction recording through to VAT returns and cloud software setup, I take the bookkeeping work off your plate entirely.

01

Monthly and Quarterly Bookkeeping

I record, categorise and reconcile every transaction on a regular cycle so your books never fall behind. You send me your bank feeds, invoices and receipts and I do the rest. You always know where your business stands financially.

Available monthly or quarterly
02

VAT Returns and MTD Submissions

I prepare and submit your VAT returns on time, every time, including under Making Tax Digital. With MTD for Income Tax expanding from April 2026, getting your digital records in order now matters. I handle the submissions directly so you never face an HMRC penalty for a late or incorrect return.

MTD compliant
03

Cloud Accounting Setup and Management

I am a QuickBooks ProAdvisor and FreeAgent Partner, and I am proficient in Xero and Sage. I set up or tidy up your cloud software and manage it on an ongoing basis. A clean, properly configured system makes your bookkeeping faster, more accurate and far less stressful at year end.

WHY IT WORKS

Why clients stay year after year

These are the practical differences that matter when you are choosing someone to look after your books.

You always speak to the person doing your books

I run Anchor Accounts and Books personally. There are no junior staff and no handoffs. When you have a question, I answer it, usually the same day. That consistency builds a working relationship that actually helps your business, not just your compliance.

Fixed fees with no hidden extras

You know what you pay before anything starts. I agree a fixed monthly fee based on your business and that is what you pay. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices at year end, no charge every time you send me an email.

Plain English, no accounting jargon

I explain what is happening in your accounts in language that makes sense to you. If something looks unusual or needs your attention, I flag it clearly and tell you what to do. You should understand your own numbers, and I make sure you do.

GETTING STARTED

How it works

Getting your books sorted takes four straightforward steps, and you can start with a free call at no obligation.

01

Book a free call

We have a short call where you tell me about your business, how you currently manage your books and what you need. No pitch, no pressure. I just want to understand your situation before I recommend anything.

02

I review your current position

I look at what you have in place, identify any gaps or backlog and give you a clear picture of where things stand. If there are problems, I tell you honestly what they are and what needs fixing first.

03

We agree a fixed fee and set up your software

Once we know what is needed, I give you a fixed monthly fee. I then set up or connect your cloud accounting software so everything flows cleanly from day one. No estimate, no vague quote, just a clear number.

04

I take it from there

From that point, I handle your bookkeeping on an agreed cycle. You send me what I need, I keep your records accurate and submit everything on time. You get on with your business and I keep the numbers straight.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Common questions

Yes. I work remotely with sole traders, limited companies and contractors across Staffordshire and the wider UK, including Stafford. Remote working means I can be just as responsive and involved as a local office-based bookkeeper, without the overhead that usually pushes fees up.
Bookkeeping is the day-to-day recording and organising of your financial transactions. Accounting uses those records to produce tax returns, accounts and financial reports. I handle both, so your books feed directly into your year-end accounts without any gap in between.
Not at all. Most new clients come to me with a backlog, inconsistent records or software that has not been set up properly. I sort through what is there, bring everything up to date and put a clean process in place going forward. Telling me it is messy is not a problem. It is just the starting point.
From April 2026, sole traders and landlords earning over 50,000 pounds must keep digital records and send quarterly updates to HMRC under Making Tax Digital for Income Tax. This makes properly maintained bookkeeping a legal requirement, not just good practice. I set up and manage MTD-compliant software for every relevant client so you are covered before the deadline arrives.
