Are your CIS returns up to date?

Answer five quick questions and get a clear picture of where you stand with HMRC.

WHAT I DO

What I handle on your behalf

From monthly CIS returns to subcontractor verification and year-end accounts, I take care of the administration that keeps you compliant.

01

Monthly CIS Return Filing

I file your CIS monthly return directly with HMRC on time, every month. Contractors must submit returns by the 19th of each month, and a late filing attracts a penalty from day one. I keep track of the deadlines, so you do not have to.

02

Subcontractor Verification and Record-Keeping

Before you pay a new subcontractor, HMRC requires verification to confirm their deduction rate. I handle this process and maintain accurate records of every payment and deduction. This protects you from incorrect deductions and the penalties that come with them.

03

CIS Bookkeeping and Tax Planning

I keep your CIS records in order throughout the year, making your self assessment or corporation tax return straightforward at year-end. I also review whether you are overpaying deductions so you can reclaim what you are owed from HMRC.

WHY IT WORKS

Why clients come back every year

They get a qualified accountant who knows their situation, answers quickly and makes sure nothing falls through the cracks.

You deal with me directly, every time

There are no junior staff, no handoffs and no starting from scratch with a new face. I handle your CIS returns personally. When you have a question, you get an answer from the person who knows your account.

Fixed fees with nothing hidden

You know what you are paying before we start. There are no hourly rates, no surprise invoices and no charge every time you pick up the phone. CIS administration does not have to come with financial guesswork.

Late or behind? I can still help

HMRC penalises late CIS returns from day one, with fines that rise the longer returns remain unfiled. If you have missed months, I can work through the backlog and get you back on track. I have seen it before and I will not judge you for it.

GETTING STARTED

How it works

Getting your CIS returns sorted takes four straightforward steps, and most of it is on my side, not yours.

01

Book a free call

We spend 20 minutes on the phone. You tell me your situation, I explain exactly what I will handle and what it costs. No obligation and no pressure.

02

Send me your information

I tell you precisely what I need: subcontractor payment details, UTR numbers and any records you have. If things are incomplete or behind, tell me and we will work through it together.

03

I file with HMRC

I verify subcontractors, calculate deductions and submit your monthly CIS return to HMRC before the deadline. If a nil return is required in a quiet month, I handle that too.

04

Ongoing, every month

You get a confirmation when each return is filed. I keep records tidy throughout the year so your year-end accounts and any reclaim from HMRC are straightforward. You carry on working while I handle the admin.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Common questions

No, it is not too late. HMRC does issue penalties for late returns, starting at 100 pounds for one day late and increasing over time. The important thing is to get the returns filed as soon as possible to stop further penalties accruing. I have helped contractors work through significant backlogs and I will not make you feel bad for being behind.
Yes, in most cases. HMRC requires contractors to file a nil return for any month where no subcontractor payments were made, unless you have notified HMRC in advance that you will be inactive for a period. Missing a nil return still triggers a penalty. I keep track of this on your behalf so nothing gets overlooked.
CIS monthly returns are filed by contractors to report what they have paid to subcontractors and what tax has been deducted. Self assessment is your personal tax return, filed annually. If you are a subcontractor, your CIS deductions count as advance payments against your self assessment tax bill. I handle both, and I make sure the figures tie up correctly at year-end.
Subcontractors are deducted at 20 percent if they are registered with HMRC under CIS, 30 percent if they are not registered, and zero percent if they hold gross payment status. If you have been deducted at 30 percent but should be on 20 percent, you are likely overpaying. I check this early and help you reclaim any overpayment through your self assessment return.
