Is your self assessment on track?

Answer five quick questions and get a clear next step based on your situation.

WHAT I DO

What I handle on your behalf

From registration through to filing, I take the whole process off your plate.

01

Self Assessment Tax Return

I prepare your full return using your income records, invoices and expense information. Every allowable expense is reviewed and applied correctly. I file directly with HMRC and confirm once it is done.

Core service
02

Tax Planning and Expense Review

Before I file, I review what you can legitimately claim. Office costs, travel, equipment, working from home, and more are all checked against HMRC rules. The aim is to make sure you are not paying more tax than you need to.

03

HMRC Registration and Making Tax Digital Readiness

If you are not yet registered for self assessment, I sort that first. I also advise freelancers approaching the Making Tax Digital income threshold, which from April 2026 applies to those with qualifying income over £50,000 for the 2024-25 tax year. Getting this right early avoids problems later.

WHY IT WORKS

Why clients come back every year

There are real, practical differences between working with me and using a large firm or a DIY filing tool.

You always speak directly to me

I handle every return personally. There are no junior staff, no handoffs, and no explaining your situation to a different person each time. When you have a question, you get a plain-English answer from the person who actually knows your accounts.

A fixed fee with no surprises

You know the cost upfront before anything is agreed. There are no add-on charges for extra questions or a quick phone call. That means you can budget properly and get in touch whenever you need to, without worrying about the clock running.

Penalties and missed deadlines become someone else’s problem

A late self assessment return triggers an automatic £100 fine from day one, then £10 a day for up to 90 days. After six months, the penalties increase further. I track every deadline on your behalf and file on time, every time.

GETTING STARTED

How it works

Four straightforward steps from your first call to a filed return.

01

Book a free call

We talk through your situation, your income sources, and whether there is anything that needs sorting before I start. No obligation, and no jargon. It usually takes around 20 minutes.

02

Share your records

You send me your income figures, expense receipts and any other relevant documents. I tell you exactly what I need, so there is no guessing. If you use cloud accounting software, I can connect directly.

03

I prepare your return

I work through everything, check your allowable expenses, and calculate your tax liability. I send you a clear summary before filing anything, so you can see exactly what is being submitted and why.

04

Filed and confirmed

I submit your return to HMRC and send you confirmation once it is done. You will know your tax bill, the payment deadline, and what to expect next. I stay available if HMRC has any follow-up queries.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Common questions

Registration is the first step and it takes time to process, so doing it promptly matters. The deadline to register for the 2024-25 tax year was 5 October 2025, but registering late does not always mean a penalty, particularly if you have no tax to pay. I can check your position and handle registration on your behalf if needed.
HMRC allows you to deduct costs that are wholly and exclusively for business purposes. For freelancers this often includes office or home working costs, travel, equipment, professional subscriptions, and software. Where an expense has a mixed personal and business use, only the business portion can be claimed. I review every client’s expenses individually to make sure nothing is missed.
Possibly. From April 2026, sole traders with qualifying income over £50,000 for the 2024-25 tax year must use Making Tax Digital for Income Tax. The threshold drops to £30,000 from April 2027, and to £20,000 from April 2028. If you are close to any of these figures, it is worth getting set up with compatible software early. I can advise on the right option for your situation.
Fees are fixed and agreed upfront before any work begins. The exact fee depends on the complexity of your return, the number of income sources, and whether bookkeeping is involved. Book a free call and I will give you a clear figure with no vague estimates.
