Is your startup accounting on solid ground?

Answer five quick questions and get a clear picture of what needs sorting and what can wait.

WHAT I DO

What I handle on your behalf

From setting up your accounts to filing your first tax return, I take the compliance weight off you so you can concentrate on running the business.

01

Accounts and Tax Returns

I prepare your annual accounts and file your tax return with HMRC, whether you are a sole trader or a limited company. Everything is explained in plain English before anything is submitted. You will always know what you owe and why, with no last-minute surprises.

02

Cloud Accounting Setup and Management

I set you up on the right software from the start, whether that is QuickBooks, FreeAgent, Xero or Sage, and make sure your records are clean and current. Getting this right early saves a lot of pain later. I am a QuickBooks ProAdvisor and FreeAgent partner, so I can get you running on either at no extra cost.

03

Tax Planning and VAT

I look at your numbers proactively so you pay the right amount of tax and no more. If you are approaching the VAT threshold or need to think about how your business structure affects what you keep, I will flag it before it becomes a problem. VAT registration, returns and Making Tax Digital submissions are all handled for you.

WHY IT WORKS

Why clients stay year after year

Startups do not need a faceless firm. They need someone who picks up the phone and knows their numbers.

You always deal with me directly

I run Anchor Accounts and Books myself. There are no junior staff, no account managers, and no one else touching your books. When you have a question, you ask me and I reply. Most responses come the same day.

Fixed fees, agreed upfront

You know exactly what you are paying before we start. There are no hourly rates, no invoice surprises, and no charge every time you send me a question. That matters when you are watching your cash flow closely.

Plain English, no jargon

I explain what things mean in straightforward language. You do not need an accounting background to understand your own numbers. If something needs your attention, I will tell you clearly what it is and what we need to do about it.

GETTING STARTED

How it works

Getting started is straightforward and takes less time than you think.

01

Book a free call

You book a no-pressure call through the contact page. There is no commitment and no sales script. It is a genuine conversation about where you are and what you need.

02

I review your situation

I ask about your business structure, where your records are currently and what is coming up. If there is anything urgent, I will flag it straight away. If things are messier than you would like, that is fine, I have seen it all before.

03

We agree a fixed fee

Once I understand what you need, I give you a clear, fixed price. No hourly rates and no vague estimates. You decide whether it works for you, with no pressure either way.

04

I handle everything from there

Once you are on board, I take care of your accounts, filings and any questions that come up throughout the year. You stay in control without having to think about HMRC deadlines.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Common questions

Software is useful for keeping records tidy, but it does not know your tax position, flag things you have missed or tell you when a decision has consequences. An accountant does all of that. Most of my startup clients use cloud software and have me sitting alongside it, which gives them the best of both.
That is the most common situation I see, and it is nothing to be embarrassed about. Most founders start with personal accounts, mixed expenses and no system. I can work with what you have and help you get onto a clean footing going forward. You do not need to sort it before you contact me.
You are required to register for VAT once your taxable turnover exceeds 90,000 pounds in any rolling 12-month period. Some businesses benefit from registering voluntarily before that. I keep an eye on your numbers and will flag it before you cross the threshold, so there are no missed deadlines.
It depends on what you need and how your business is structured. All my fees are fixed and agreed upfront, so you always know exactly what you are paying. The free call is the right place to start because I can give you a clear figure based on your actual situation, not a generic estimate.
