Are your finances set up right as a creative?

Answer five quick questions and get a clear, personalised next step based on where you actually are right now.

WHAT I DO

What I handle on your behalf

From your first self assessment to ongoing bookkeeping and tax planning, I take the whole thing off your plate.

01

Self Assessment Tax Returns

I prepare and file your self assessment for you, making sure every allowable expense is claimed and nothing is missed. Creative income can be irregular and varied, so I take the time to understand exactly what you have earned and how. You get a clear breakdown before anything is submitted.

02

Bookkeeping and VAT

I keep your records clean and current, whether that is monthly or quarterly, using cloud accounting tools like QuickBooks, FreeAgent or Xero. If you are VAT registered, I handle your returns and keep you compliant with Making Tax Digital. No chasing receipts at year-end, no guesswork.

03

Tax Planning for Irregular Income

Feast and famine income is normal for creatives, but that does not mean your tax bill should come as a shock. I help you work out what to set aside, when, and how to reduce your overall tax liability through legitimate planning. This is year-round support, not a once-a-year conversation.

WHY IT WORKS

Why clients come back every year

Working with me is straightforward, personal and built around how you actually work.

You speak to me directly, every time

There are no junior staff and no handoffs at Anchor Accounts and Books. When you message or call, I answer. That means your questions get proper answers quickly, not passed around a team until someone picks them up. Seven years of practice experience means I have seen situations like yours before.

Fixed fees with no surprises

You know exactly what you are paying before we start. There are no hourly rates, no shock invoices and no charges for sending a quick email. Fixed fees make it easier to budget, and they mean I am genuinely on your side rather than watching the clock.

I understand how creative income actually works

Irregular project income, equipment costs, home studio expenses, working from different locations: these are normal parts of creative professional life, not complications. I know what you can claim and how to structure things so you are not overpaying. You do not need to explain yourself from scratch.

GETTING STARTED

How it works

Getting started takes one conversation, and I handle everything else from there.

01

Book a free call

You book a short call through the contact page at a time that suits you. There is no obligation and no hard sell. I just want to understand your situation and whether I can help.

02

I review your situation

I look at what you have, what you need and what deadlines are coming up. If there are gaps or issues, I will tell you plainly what they are and what the options are. You will know where you stand before we go any further.

03

We agree a fixed fee and get set up

Once you are happy to go ahead, I send a clear engagement letter and a fixed fee. I set up or connect your cloud accounting software, whether that is QuickBooks, FreeAgent, Xero or Sage, and get your records into shape.

04

I take care of it, year-round

From that point on, I handle your bookkeeping, returns and tax planning as they fall due. You get same-day responses when you have questions. Deadlines are filed on time. You get back to your work.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Common questions

If you are making regular money from your creative work, the short answer is yes. The tax rules around allowable expenses, National Insurance and self assessment are more involved than most people realise, and the mistakes creatives most often make are costly ones. An accountant typically saves you more than the fee costs, and you stop spending hours worrying about it.
No. Most people come to me with incomplete records or a backlog to deal with. That is a normal starting point, not a problem. I will tell you honestly what is missing, what we can reconstruct and what the position is with HMRC. Getting organised now is always better than waiting.
Irregular income is something I deal with regularly for creative clients. I work through what you have actually earned across the tax year, identify every allowable expense and make sure your return reflects the reality of how you work. I also help you plan what to save through the year so the payment on account does not catch you out.
I work on fixed fees agreed upfront, so you know exactly what you are paying before anything starts. The fee depends on what you need, whether that is a one-off self assessment or ongoing bookkeeping and tax planning. Book a free call and I will give you a clear figure with no ambiguity.
