Is your CIS set-up costing you money?

Answer five quick questions and get a clear, personalised next step based on your situation.

WHAT I DO

What I handle on your behalf

From registering correctly with HMRC to reclaiming overpaid tax, I take the entire CIS burden off your plate.

01

CIS Bookkeeping and Monthly Records

I keep your CIS records accurate and up to date every month, including tracking deductions made by contractors and reconciling them against what HMRC holds. This means your numbers are always in order, no scrambling at year-end. You hand it over; I deal with it.

Ongoing monthly service
02

Self Assessment Tax Returns for Subcontractors

I prepare and file your self assessment return, making sure every CIS deduction you have suffered is correctly offset against your tax bill. Many subcontractors overpay without realising because the figures are not reconciled properly. I check this as a matter of course.

Annual filing included
03

CIS Registration and Gross Payment Status Advice

If you are unregistered, HMRC deducts 30% from your payments rather than 20%. I can get you registered at the correct rate and advise whether you qualify for gross payment status, which stops deductions altogether and improves your cash flow immediately. I walk you through the whole process in plain English.

WHY IT WORKS

Why clients come back every year

Subcontractors stay because the service is personal, the fees are fixed and the communication is fast.

You speak to me, not a junior

I run Anchor Accounts and Books entirely on my own. There are no handoffs to someone who does not know your situation. When you ring or message, you get me. That matters when you have an urgent question about a deduction on a Friday afternoon.

Fixed fees so you always know where you stand

I quote a fixed fee before we start and it does not change unless your circumstances do. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices at year-end. You know exactly what your accounting costs every month, which makes budgeting straightforward.

I check whether you have been overpaying tax

CIS deductions are taken at source by contractors, but they do not always match what you actually owe. I review your deductions as part of every self assessment and reclaim any overpayment on your behalf. A lot of subcontractors are owed money by HMRC and have no idea.

GETTING STARTED

How it works

Getting your CIS sorted takes four straightforward steps and you can start today.

01

Book a free call

We have a short, no-obligation call where you tell me where things stand with your CIS. I will tell you honestly what needs doing and whether I can help. No pressure, no jargon.

02

I review your CIS position

I look at your registration status, any deductions suffered, your records and any outstanding filings. This gives us a clear picture of where you are and what needs sorting first.

03

We agree a fixed fee

I give you a fixed monthly or annual fee based on what you actually need. You know exactly what it costs before we start. Nothing changes without your agreement.

04

I handle everything ongoing

From that point I look after your CIS bookkeeping, self assessment, tax reconciliation and any HMRC correspondence. You get on with your work. I deal with the paperwork.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Common questions

If you are working as a subcontractor in the construction industry without being registered for CIS, contractors must deduct 30% from your payments and pass it to HMRC. Once you register, that drops to 20%. Getting registered is straightforward and I can handle it for you quickly.
Yes. CIS deductions are credited against your income tax and National Insurance bill through your self assessment return. If more has been deducted than you actually owe, HMRC refunds the difference. I check this carefully for every client because overpayments are common.
Registration alone does not mean your records or returns are correct. Many registered subcontractors still file their self assessment without properly reconciling CIS deductions, which means they either overpay tax or face penalties. Having someone who knows CIS handle it properly is worth more than the fee.
Gross payment status means contractors pay you in full without making any CIS deductions. You then pay tax directly through self assessment. It improves cash flow significantly. HMRC requires you to meet certain compliance and turnover tests, and I can advise whether you are likely to qualify and handle the application.
